In a surprising collaboration that challenges usual forecasts, the game developer has revealed an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Mission Revealed

According to the authorized release, "A strange confrontation draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where hints of banned ceremonies and fearsome changes resonate through the darkness." The plot introduces a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who charges the duo with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a secret cult.

The mission focuses on "bizarre tests and a monstrous adversary" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Familiar Settings and Changes

The teaser features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer concludes with a striking sequence showing a character, presumably the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Items and Bonus Features

Players who successfully complete the adventure will obtain an exclusive katana alongside multiple items hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-based costume for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Unique arms
• Survey Corps mount

This release also introduces the game's latest no-cost story episode, titled "The Mystery." This playful quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic skills: Naoe introduces a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This marks scarcely the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime series. The series formerly showcased a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
